YAY!! [26 Jul 2008|08:19pm]
Character: Dio Eraclea
Series: Last Exile
Character Age: 17
Canon: On a planet named Prester, two countries wage war. A young Vanship (basically, a small aicraft) pilot named Claus gets pulled into the middle of this conflict, winding up on a mission with a neutral battleship called the Silvana. Add one small child wrapped in as much mystery as an item known as Exile - something that everybody wants to get their hands on, and you have the story of Last Exile. Prester is run by a law-enforcing organization called the Guild, led by Maestro Delphine -- elder sister of one Dio Eraclea.

Very much unlike his sister (and most of the Guild in general), Dio seems to treat everything like a game, acting very playful and childish. He does things such as hang off the side of the ship to try and touch clouds (oblivious to the possibility of falling off), and teach his beloved friend Luciola the right facial expressions to make for his emotions. When he meets Claus, he becomes a bit obsessed with him and his piloting skills, to the point of following him back to the Silvana and joining in on their quest. For a seemingly simple boy who enjoys draping on people, singing, and talking about corpses, he's actually a very skilled pilot with a sharp strategic mind.

Ahh, I've finally found people in Camp Fuck You Die who can talk! I thought the only people here other than me were the ones who were just saying "braaaaains" and "the gaaaaaame." I don't know what kind of game they meant, since they kept saying I lost it, but they were boring! And so was the game since it didn't go any further than that. But that doesn't matter now, because I have a much better game to play! And I'm not the only one who thinks that it's much better, either~ look how many people followed me here! And they're not only interested in my brain because they're hungry, but because my ideas are that fun. You too, you want to play, don't you? Follow me!

This hospital roof is the best place to make paper Vanships! Not only so yours will fly high and far-- whooosh! But because when you feel the wind hit you, you'll feel like you're flying with it, it's the best feeling ever! Here, here, I'll make a circle all the way over there, and you try to make yours fly far enough to land inside of it. See? Not only easy, but easy and fun! I'll even help you braaaaains people make yours, they won't fly right if they're covered in blood... and using your hands to wipe them won't help either, papercuts make you bleed on them even more, you know! You just fold them heeeere, and heeeeeere... there! Now--

No no, it doesn't go there, braiiiins person #4. Or there. It's supposed to go in the circle, the circle! Ha ha, some of you are really perverted, you know? But my finger wasn't pointing to his pants, or your mouth, and papercuts in either of those places wouldn't be very fun. So pay better attention! That's also an important part of this "feel like you're really flying" game. Now ready... aim... TOOOOSS!

Whoops! That throw was a little too hard there, braiiiins person #2. But at least you weren't aiming for anybody's eye like braiiiins person #5 was. Now you have to go all the way downstairs to get your paper Vanship back! What? No, noo, just because I said that this makes you feel like you're flying doesn't mean you can. So put your arm down - even if you could fly with those, you'd need two of them anyway, trying to fly off of the roof is...

...

Haha! Well, I guess I was wrong! If you look at it this way, he really did just lose the game!

Some clips from the anime, now! Dio scenes. Within these videos are also reasons to app Luciola and Claus. These are in series-event order to avoid people getting spoiled who haven't finished the series yet. Unless you don't mind spoilers. In which case watch these! Because they are awesome.

Age: 17
Height: 5'4
Weight: Not stated
Medical Info: None

Eyes: Purple!
Hair: White

Physical traits: Has pointy ears and... eyeshadowy stuff? ): And the braid on his left side.

What's Okay To Mention Around Him: Anything, I would say. I would err on the side of caution and warn that mentioning Delphine might get him D:, but in canon he HAS spoken about her calmly and with the end of series events he might be slightly better about that. Otherwise, ask away!

Abilities: He's a mean Vanship pilot. Also good at chess!

Notes for the Psychics: He wouldn't have anything pinging, really. XD

Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: Sure, just ask!

Maim/Murder/Death: I'd probably go with no here. XD Hurting is an always okay for me! But anything serious or death-like, no. ^^;

Emo, Angst, Drama: OOCly I am open to drama and emo stuff, buuuuut in Dio's case, I'd rather not go into the area too much.

Cooking: Probably had servants doing that for him. >_> Though I would bet Al and Lavie would bully him into learning eventually XD

Okay, the first line of events I wanted to clear up if I got in is as such: the end of the series, and what three canon sources tell us DIDN'T really happen.

Spoilers for the last episode. )

Character: Dio Eraclea
Series: Last Exile (link)
Character Age: 17 (stated 16 officially, but celebrated a birthday in canon and is being taken from the end of the series.)

Canon: Last Exile follows one Claus Valca, a young Vanship (a small aircraft) pilot who finds himself in the middle of a war between two countries and a mission revolving around a fearsome battleship, a mysterious young girl and an even more mysterious item known as Exile.

Enter Dio, younger brother of Maestro Delphine of the aristocratic Guild; the onlooker and law-enforcer of the planet. He becomes infatuated with Claus and his piloting skills, nicknaming him "Immelmann", taunting him, blowing kisses at him and stalking him onto his battleship.

When not completely terrified of his older sister, Dio is bouncy, seemingly childish, and at times rather odd - remarking once on the strange beauty of a corpse to laughing and playing with butterflies. He also sulks when he believes Claus is ignoring him. He sees and treats his own bodyguard, Luciola, as his best friend, doing things like eating something before him when Luciola wants to dutifully check it for poison, to trying to get him to use the correct facial expression for when he thinks something is delicious.

Despite this he is also quite mischevious and cunning when need be, and enjoys strategy, playing chess and showing off his awesome piloting skills.

Yoooo~ residents of Camp Fuck You Die, I've finally found you! After hearing about the mysterious murder and not seeing anybody around right away, I thought that maybe the murderer had returned to kill you all to make sure that nobody figured out who they were. I'm glad this place isn't a ghost-camp; it would have been boring being here all by myself with nobody to talk to!

But hey, I have a question! What is this "Rainbow Alert" reading next to the welcome sign, and why did it jump to over nine-thousand when I got here? This camp doesn't have rainbow-like qualities at all! The purity of the water is so low, and are we supposed to stay in those cabins? It wouldn't be too bad if it was only a while, but I'm not used to prolonged stays in places like this. And I've been told by my new friends that nobody's allowed to leave!

What new friends, you ask? A local flock of toucans that seems to have taken a liking to me! They explained that it was dangerous for them when the gorillas and the polar bears get hungry, so I've agreed to help them come up with ways to stay safe when flying close to the ground. It shouldn't be hard at all once they've learned a few maneuvering techniques~!

You two, stay closer together! This is barely different than piloting a Vanship: teamwork is the winning key! You over there! Just pull up like that and-- close, but not the best Immelmann turn I've seen. It needs more grace, more accuracy... like this, look look! I'll show you! Vreeeeem~ Vrooooom~! Keep my advice in mind and you won't become tonight's main course!

...

I'm happy you're grateful enough to want to reward me, but I don't really have a use for "Birds Gone Wild." Watch these hot toucans mix and mingle with full, red breasted robins...?
